Ideas:

  • Focus on one of the key players in your issue.  A researcher, famous person, victim, etc.
  • Define a key term for your topic.
  • Explore a historical event that led to a current situation.
  • Do a pro/con analysis of one aspect of your issue.
  • Deeply research one aspect of your topic.
  • Read an essay and/or editorial and reflect on the author’s ideas.

As always, the blog needs to be 300-500 words and have two correctly cited sources.

Remember, you are working towards a research paper, so as you pick a topic think about the big question that you want to explore for your research paper and select something for this blog that helps you answer that question.

A Story - Due March 10

Image result for story Using a story can be a technique to humanize a research report and it can be an effective way to explain the significance of statistic by bringing it down to the human level.

For this blog I want you to find a story that humanizes your topic.  This can be a victim's story, a heroic account of an event, the story of how a technology was discovered or an example of how a law is affecting an individual.  It just needs to bring a big idea down to the human level.

In addition to re-stating the story, I want you to explain the significance of this story to your topic.  What can we learn by studying this person's experiences?  How does this personal example explain or develop a better understanding of a statistic?

As always, this needs to be 300-500 words and include research that is cited both within the text and within a works cited section at the bottom of the document.
